Privacy Policy for FolderLLM
Effective Date: February 10, 2026
Last Updated: February 10, 2026
1. Introduction
Welcome to FolderLLM, a browser extension designed to help you organize your Google NotebookLM workspace. Your privacy is our top priority. This Privacy Policy explains how FolderLLM handles information when you use the extension.
2. Information We Collect (and Why We Don’t)
FolderLLM is built with a privacy-first architecture.
No Personal Data Collection: We do not collect, store, or transmit any personally identifiable information (PII) such as your name, email address, or contact details.
No Content Access: We do not read the content of your notes, your sources, or your AI chat history within NotebookLM.
No Tracking: We do not use cookies, tracking pixels, or any third-party analytics (like Google Analytics) to monitor your behavior.
3. How Data is Stored
To provide organizational features (folders, color-coding, and pinning), FolderLLM uses Chrome’s Local Storage API (chrome.storage.local).
Local Only: All folder names, color preferences, and pinned notebook IDs are saved directly in your browser on your own computer.
No Cloud Sync: Your organizational structure is not synced to our servers because we do not operate any servers.
Data Deletion: If you uninstall the extension, all locally stored settings and folder structures created by FolderLLM are automatically deleted by the browser.
4. Third-Party Access
No Data Selling: We do not sell, trade, or rent user data to third parties.
No External Servers: Because the extension operates entirely on your local machine, your data is never "transferred" or "disclosed" to any external entity.
5. Permissions Disclosure
FolderLLM requests specific permissions to function:
Storage: To save your folder names and color choices locally.
Host Permissions (NotebookLM): To allow the extension to inject the folder UI and drag-and-drop functionality into the NotebookLM dashboard.
6. Compliance with Laws
GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation): Since we do not collect or process personal data, FolderLLM is compliant with GDPR by design (Data Minimization).
CCPA (California Consumer Privacy Act): We do not "sell" or "share" personal information as defined by the CCPA.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
